What this test measures
Taken exactly two hours after you start a normal meal, this test shows how efficiently your body clears the glucose load from that meal. It often picks up early problems in sugar handling while the fasting value still looks acceptable.
Who should consider it
Anyone whose fasting sugar is borderline, people already managing diabetes who want to see how their diet and medication are working through the day, and adults with a strong family history who want a fuller picture than fasting alone provides.
Preparation
Eat your usual meal and note the time you started. Give the sample exactly two hours later. Avoid extra snacks, tea or coffee during those two hours.
