What this test measures
A trained technologist examines thick and thin blood smears under the microscope to look for the malaria parasite itself and identify which species is present. Direct visualisation remains the reference standard, and species identification guides treatment choice.
Who should consider it
Anyone with fever occurring in cycles, chills and rigors, sweating episodes or headache during monsoon months in Greater Noida West. Collecting the sample during or just after a fever spike improves the chance of catching the parasite.
Preparation
No fasting required. Where possible, give the sample when the fever is rising or at its peak.
